How your donations have helped 🙏

In such a difficult year, we wanted to say an especially big thank you for donating to Unity is Strength. We are delighted to be able to support St Paul KAASO School during these challenging times.

Since Unity is Strength launched in November 2020, we have raised an incredible £2,800! This money is now on its way to Dominic and Rose Mukwaya, the Founders and Directors of St Paul KAASO. It will help to:

  • Set up additional hand-washing facilities, buy thermometers and masks for teachers and students to ensure the school is safe and compliant with COVID-19 measures
  • Support the teaching and non-teaching staff by purchasing food and other essential items
  • Buy books, pens and mosquito nets to support the children at KAASO
  • Purchase new solar batteries for the school’s solar energy system

I (Lizzie) had a wonderful video call with Rose last Thursday. It was great to catch up while very hard to hear about all the children who cannot attend school at the moment.

Currently, the Ugandan government has only reopened schools for primary and secondary year groups sitting exams. For KAASO, this means it is only the 68 Primary Seven students who are studying in classes of no more than 15 students and sleeping in dorms of 15 children in individually spaced single beds.

A bit different from memories of 600 children racing around!

We will be in touch again with updates and photos from KAASO when the items listed above have been bought and are in use. Thank you so much once again for your generous donation(s) to make this possible.
